Comparing Different Types of Greenhouses for Sale
Before comparing greenhouses for sale, you should educate your self a little as to the different types of greenhouses. There are a variety of greenhouses for sale and, if you are like most people, not all of them will be suitable to your specific location. The two basic greenhouse structures are those that are free standing and those that must be attached to another building like a house or garage. Within those two broad categories of greenhouses for sale, there are sub-categories too. Of course a big part of your decision will be your personal preference as to the types, style and size.
As with most things in life, there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

Lean-to Greenhouses for Sale
The Lean-to type of greenhouse is mostly used in areas where space is limited with the typical maximum width for these types of greenhouses being about 12 feet. If the greenhouse is being built in areas that receive snow or ice, you need to be sure the snow and ice will not be able to slide off the roof and onto the lean-to greenhouse.
These types of greenhouses require another structure for them to be attached to. The doorway from the structure (home of garage) is used to access the lean-to type of greenhouse. They are fairly economical to build and there are kits for the do-it-yourself types so you can save even more money by building it yourself.
For some people at big disadvantage of this type of greenhouse is that the space they have is not facing the correct direction. Another consideration is that due to the existing structure wall acting as a "solar heater" and collecting a lot of heat from the sun, it makes controlling the temperature in lean-to types of greenhouses difficult. The owners of lean-to greenhouses must be sure to provide adequate air circulation too.
Even-Span Greenhouses for Sale
These types of greenhouses really look like a complete building but they aren't. One end of the building is actually the wall of the supporting structure. You should know that when looking at greenhouses for sale and you see a Even Span greenhouse, it will cost more than a lean-to type of greenhouse. One nice thing about an even span greenhouse is that the length can to as long as the space will allow. The overall design of an even span greenhouse means it's easier to maintain proper air circulation and there is more room for benches too.
Window Greenhouses for Sale
A window mount type of greenhouse is the cheapest to build but is also the smallest too. The first thing you should look at is the orientation of the window you are considering adding the window mount greenhouse too. If the window is facing North, then you will not be able have much success with growing things in the window mount greenhouse. A South or East facing window is best for adding a window mount greenhouse to. Their small size means you will not be able to grow many plants but for many people, the plants are just a bonus because they simply like how a window mount greenhouse looks on their home.
Of course there are also free standing greenhouses for sale too. They come in all different shapes and sizes and, if you have the room, will be the best bet for you. The disadvantage is that free standing greenhouses are also the most expensive to buy and/or build. There are usually quite a few greenhouses for sale along with lots of greenhouse supplies on ebay.
So before you go off on your quest looking for greenhouses for sale, you should take some time to evaluate the space you have available and the orientation/direction too.
